Who We Are

Club History

The Rotary Club of Crescent City was formed in 1927. Our club, as is with all Rotary clubs, is the basic unit of Rotary activity with each club determining its own membership. For more information on membership, click on the Membership link on our main page. As of July, 2020, our club had 28 regular dues paying and 3 honorary members, totaling 31 total members.

High School Student Scholarships

The most successful and sustainable Rotary service tends to fall within one of the following six areas:

  • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Water and sanitation
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Economic and community development

Our club has chosen ‘Basic education and literacy’ as its signature mission project. The club’s annual spring Catfish Festival fundraiser and its annual fall Swine and Wine dinner fundraiser raises money that is directly provided to fund $1500 scholarships to Crescent City High School students who qualify. The scholarships are given out in the spring of each calendar school year.

Regular Weekly Meetings

Our club was a breakfast club for many years but changed to a dinner club in 2019. The club has since met in person on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm ET at several local venues that serve food. Meetings are held to 60 minutes unless extended for unusual circumstances. There is usually a 30 minute social time just prior to a meeting. At meetings, Rotarians can discuss club business and hear from guest speakers.

Service Projects

Our club also conducts various service projects within its local community and participates in special projects involving other clubs in the local district, and occasionally a special project in a “Sister club” in another nation.

2020 COVID-19 Online Meetings

When COVID-19 health and safety procedures were put into place by the State of Florida, our club moved to a Zoom online Web conferencing platform. Most members and their guests continued to attend meetings and speakers continued to present at each meeting.  In-person meetings will resume when it is deemed safe to do so.
